there are no coincidences.
anyone who has met an incidence knows they do not get along.
climate is spooky, like the thing in the horror movie “it follows”.
it’s slow.
but it’s relentless and it’s coming for you.
the thunder is very distant but it’s ominous tonight.
i keep reading about a trial date and i didn’t even know that you could bring one. even provisionally.

#idalia is not ideal.
i guess the M in these images is for 'Major Hurricane' but i just think of it as 'Motherf%er'.
it's been a while since #RonDeSantis made the state a disaster area, but it's nice to see the Federal government formally acknowledging that.
getting so many texts and robot voice calls and siren-like long-tone warnings in the iphone about this hurricane it feels like the subtext is you're all gonna die.
erring on the side of making absolutely sure via every redundancy that everyone is warned might be the right choice. but it has some downsides too.
if you understand the question, what's your answer?
(maybe why in replies!)
“Human beings find meaning only by living in ‘multiple realities,’ flourishing in those human sanctuaries where thought, creativity, friendship, love, and worship are nurtured and expressed. But today we are mentally trapped by the logic of competitive life, living as functionaries in a world where it seems nothing is leisure, everything is work, and the boundaries protecting the sacred from the profane are being erased every day.” https://www.commonwealmagazine.org/civil-theology-robert-bellah ht @poetryforsupper

"The capital income distributed to wealthy people is a bigger drain on the disposable income of workers than the tax-and-transfer system is, generally speaking." #MattBruenig https://mattbruenig.com/2023/08/27/oliver-anthony-and-distributive-justice/
Where is the search engine whose algorithm gives priority to obscure but high quality sites?
the plutocrat overproduction thesis is underrated.
he heard a loud voice cry out "come on down!", but it wasn't downward he was going. he was going up.
Is there a good way on this thing (Mastodon) to search ones own feed?
Every correct tendency has an extreme that discredits it.
One has to simultaneously:
(1) identify what is correct,
(2) avoid succumbing to exaggerated, dogmatic, versions of even importantly correct ideas,
and
(3) avoid taking the existence of foolish, dangerous, even destructive extremes as a heuristic to decide that a tendency or set of ideas has no merit at all.
Nobody said this was easy.
